This Page has been viewed 12267 times since March 2004! A fully playable version of Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties was presented at The Game Convention at Leipzig. A guest at the convention posted complete unit stats for TAD on a German website.
These unit stats were taken from a Heaven Games translator, who translated it from German. The page where these unit stats were originally posted is here.
INDIA
You start with 2 explorers, both of which look the same and sit on an elephant. They look very cute, especially when the mount dies. Every hero has its own name, less HP than the european one and a special ability the all new heroes have:
A stunning blow. With it, one treasure guardian can be shortly stunned and meanwhile kill the other, so that you can take treasures easier. This ability reloads itself very fast, I estimate it takes about 35 seconds, so it's relatively strong.
The Indian villagers cost wood. They need 6 villagers on wood for constant villager production. This requires lots of changes of your playstyle, especially on maps like Great Plains, where there is practically no wood nearby.
There are no villager shipments for India, but they get a free villager with every shipment, regardless of age. The economy is relatively good, as far as our tests can say. Then we have the Indian units, I've listed all normal productable units.

JAPANESE
Also here you start with same-looking heroes, who don't have mounts though, but a very stylish bow and make some sounds when they attack. Also the Japanese heroes have the stunning blow for better creeping. The villagers cost food, although there is a speciality in their economy: the Japanese can't e.g. hunt. This is why they have an orchard travois at the beginning, that can change into a cherry orchard. 5000 food can be gathered raid-free from it - the gather rate isn't known. They have villager cards, but the villager limit is at 75 vills. Where do the rest of the resources come from? The Japanese houses, also known as shrines, produce resources - you can decide, which. When you build all houses in the middle of a herd, the animals graze around the houses for more food than if the shrine was in the middle of nowhere. A good house placement is required from the start.
Then we come to the Japanese units:
Barracks:
Yumi Archer
35 Food 50 wood 1 Pop 100 Hp 0,3 RR
7 MDam 1,5x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Cavalry
19 RDam 18 R 1,5x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Cavalry

25 MDam 1 Splash 1,8x vs Cav. 0,5x vs Villagers 1,4x vs Light Infantry
67 Siege damage
-Available in second age, pretty much a doppelsöldner, only that they are fast I think, they have 4.5. speed in my opinion. They do very good in fight, against pikes for instance.

This mortar shoots regularly as far as the Portuguese mortar with an upgrade o_O, in short: Roxxors
CHINESE
As the Chinese only have one hero, this is a hand to hand fighter but very fast and has also the stunning blow. You also get a Disciple that can heal, a kind of monk. The villagers cost food and they can build 100 villagers as usual. There is a new thing with their houses though: every house (village) costs 200 wood and provides 20(?) pop space, you can build 6 of these villages and with technologies for wood (200w), pop capacity of each village can be risen to 5. This means that in the end the Chinese can have 220 pop space.
The Chinese need that, because they can only have trash units - quantity over quality, not unlike the Russians. Then they have another speciality: they can't build single units, but only so-called armies. You mostly receive 2 types of units at the same time, so that e.g. as Chinese you can't spam only one unit type. You have always have 2 unit types - which is actually quite good, since the armies complement each other well.
In practice, one pays 450 resources and gets 3 pikes and 3 xbows for it. There are only two military buildings, with Stable and Barracks combined in a War Academy and there's still the fort.
Unit listing:
Chu Ko Nu
85 Food 1 Pop 90 Hp 0,2 RR
6 MDam 2x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Cavalry
5 RDam 16 R 2x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Cavalry
3 Siege damage
Shoots several arrows per shooting sequence
-I think a super unit, if you can control them well, then you can, I believe, kill pretty much all HI no matter how many is coming. They also have no aiming time.
Qing Pike
60 wood 1 Pop 110 Hp 0,1 MR
8 MDam 3x vs Cav. 2,3x vs Light Infantry
34 Siege damage
-The pikeman of the Chinese, with more siege but less damage vs cavalry than a regular pikeman.
Steppe Rider
85 Gold 1 Pop 150 Hp 0,3 RR
15 MDam 2x vs Infantry 0,5x vs Heavy Infantry 2x vs Villagers
25 Siege damage
-Again a bonus vs skirm type units and a negative bonus vs muskets, but has an attack bonus against villagers and is available in second age. A bit weaker oprichnik in 2nd age.
Keslik
115 Food 1 Pop 100 Hp 0,3 RR
8 RDam 12 R 3x vs Cav. 0,5x vs Villagers
-A small dragoon in 2nd age for the Chinese with a quite ok damage.
Changdao
95 Food 1 Pop 144 Hp 0,2 MR
15 MDam 2x vs Cav. 1,5x vs Light Infantry
25 Siege damage
-Finally! A melee cavalry that's also strong vs other cavalry, I find that very interesting.
Arquebusier

6 MDam 2x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Infantry
16 RDam 20 R 2x vs Heavy Infantry 1,5x vs Light Infantry

20 RDam 34 R 1 Splash 4x vs Buildings 2x vs Ships 2x vs Artillery
-A lighter version of the Light Cannon, because they lack the bonus vs Infantry and also doesn't counter other cannons well, but is strong against buildings.
Iron Flail
240 Food 2 Pop 350 Hp 0,3 RR
22 MDam 1 Splash 1,5x vs Infantry 0,7x vs Heavy Infantry
20 Siege damage
-Practically a rodelero with an attack bonus vs skirms and a negative bonus vs muskets ^^
Meteor Hammer
175 Gold 2 Pop 200 Hp 0,3 RR
34 MDam 2x vs Artillery
15 Siege
-A melee unit for countering cannons... not so great imo
Flamethrower
170 wood 170 Gold 4 Pop 210 Hp 0,65 RR
5 RDam 1 Splash 6x Infantry 4x Buildings 2x Artillery 6x Ships 0,8x Cav. 0,6x vs Light Infantry
-These things are actually only stylish, they shoot a long firestream on units and when they die, they explode. In short: rock vs infantry.
The list of armies:

-Ranged infantry and melee cavalry is actually always a good combo, I find this army also quite good

THE anti-cav army. Two of them and all Spanish FF lancers are history.
